St. Louis Blues HockeyDESCRIPTION: The St. Louis Blues belong to the National Hockey League. Scottrade Center is at the intersection of 14th Street and Clark Avenue, one block south of Market Street. METROLINK: Visitors can take MetroLink light rail to the Scottrade Center station. SEASON: The Blues season runs from October through April followed by the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Pre-season games are held in late September. ADMISSION: Ticket prices vary from $15-$85 for individual games; season tickets are also available. ANNUAL ATTENDANCE: 200 events are held at Scottrade Center each year with combined attendance totaling 2 million people. Blues attendance is 742,000. WHAT'S NEW: A new seating area in the northeast mezzanine end called the "Top Shelf" offers big screen television and interactive games with a view of the ice. ESPECIALLY FOR KIDS: A special birthday package for kids 12 and under is available for certain games and includes a hockey ticket, use of a party area for one hour prior to the game, snacks, a birthday cake and a special gift. Fans ages 16 and under can join the Junior BlueNote Club. Membership is only $24.95 and includes free ticket to a Blues home game, subscription to "Junior Blues News," Blues bag, a birthday surprise, personalized membership certificate, 10 percent discount to the BlueNote shop, opportunity to attend a closed practice at Scottrade Center and discounted tickets to family shows at Scottrade Center. WHAT'S COOL: The Blues will honor you on your birthday and help local charities with a donation of $50 or more. The birthday guest gets a birthday greeting announced over the public address system and his or her name shown on the Jumbo-Tron. ANNUAL SPECIAL EVENTS: The St. Louis Blues offer a Summer Hockey Camp for Mite through Bantam players. This year, the camp will take place the week of August 4 through August 9, 2003 at the US Ice Sports Complex in Chesterfield, MO. Campers will have three hours of on ice time and structured off ice training sessions each day, Monday-Friday, and a team scrimmage on Saturday. For more information, please call 314-622-2515. HISTORY: St. Louis was awarded an NHL franchise in 1967. One of the team's owners suggested the name "St. Louis Blues" to honor the city's role in the birth of the blues as a musical style, and it stuck. The team played its games at the St. Louis Arena for 28 seasons. In October 1994, the Blues moved to the new Scottrade Center, an ultra-modern facility seating almost 20,000 people. The St. Louis Blues are the only NHL team to make it into the playoffs every year from 1980 through 2000 -- 21 years in a row. GIFT SHOP: The BlueNote Shop features Blues clothing, merchandise and game-used items. The Fan Shops located at the east and west ends of the plaza concourse also sell Blues items. WHAT'S NEARBY: All of the downtown attractions, including the Gateway Arch, the Old Courthouse and the Old Cathedral are nearby. Scottrade Center is connected via MetroLink light rail to downtown St. Louis' other sports venues -- Busch Stadium, home of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team and the Edward Jones Dome, home of the NFL Super Bowl champion St. Louis Rams.
