Late one evening during an April 2007 event, Ekrem Tuzlakovic noticed a discarded envelope lying on the floor near the elevators. Thinking it was trash, he instinctively picked it up to remove the unsightly debris. Much to his surprise, it contained nearly $4,000 in cash. He immediately took this lost treasure to the office for its safe keeping and relocated himself during his unpaid meal break near the elevators to watch the area for the possible return of the owner. Just as he thought and had hoped, the owner returned frantic and obviously upset. After a few questions, answers and proper identification, it was determined that the cash did, in fact, belong to this person. The money, in its entirety, was returned to its owner. Ekrem accepted the owner’s expression of thanks, however, would not accept cash as a finder’s gift, stating that there was never any question in his mind about how to handle the safe return of the money as it was the fair and honest thing to do.
